Kate McLaren
Kate McLaren is an organizational consultant who works in Canada and overseas to help build healthy and effective organizations. For over 15 years she worked for two Canadian international development organizations, first in public education and public relations and then as a senior manager responsible for programming overseas and in Canada. Since 1993 she has been a partner in South House Exchange, a consulting partnership of four people, three of whom are based in Ottawa and one in Asia. The S.H.E. consulting team has extensive experience in international development programming, project management, human rights, and organizational management and development. Kate has worked with voluntary sector organizations and with government organizations to guide and strengthen organizational processes (planning, vision-building, change processes, team development, monitoring and evaluation etc.). She is particularly interested in whole system processes and in designing creative and participatory processes for personal and organizational learning and growth. She is the author, with David Kelleher, of Grabbing the Tiger by the Tail: NGOs Learning for Organizational Change, CCIC, 1996. She has an M. Ed in History (Dalhousie University) and an MPA in policy processes and administration (Queen's). When not at work she happiest in her garden or with a watercolour brush in hand.
